What is ABA and how does it help?
ABA is the most widely researched therapy for autism. It breaks meaningful goals — communicating a need, joining play, following a routine, reducing unsafe behaviors — into small, teachable steps, then reinforces progress so skills stick and generalize to everyday life.
Every program is individualized. A BCBA assesses your child, sets goals with your family, and oversees Behavior Technicians (BTs) who deliver the day-to-day sessions and track data on every target.
Who is ABA for?
ABA at Mercy Plus serves children and young adults ages 1 to 21.
Early learners (1–5)
Early, intensive ABA supports communication, play, and school readiness during the years it matters most.
School-age children (6–12)
Builds social skills, emotional regulation, independence, and reduces barriers to learning.
Teens & young adults (13–21)
Focuses on life skills, self-advocacy, vocational readiness, and the transition to adulthood.
Center-based or in-home — how ABA is delivered
Center-based ABA gives your child a structured environment with peers, dedicated therapy space, and built-in routines — ideal for early intensive programs and social goals.
In-home ABA brings therapy into the environment where skills are used every day, so progress generalizes to family routines, mealtimes, and the community. Many families blend both.
Our BCBA-supervised care model
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) designs and continuously adjusts your child's program based on data collected every session.
Behavior Technicians (BTs) deliver sessions one-on-one under that supervision, with regular caregiver coaching so families can carry strategies forward.
Goals are reviewed with your family on an ongoing basis — ABA is a partnership, not a black box.
